Never take anything for granted; especially summer in Chicago. SUP Yoga at 31st St Harbor is different than the other locations. It’s private and quiet. Most people don’t know that there’s a gorgeous harbor with a pool, bar, and food truck. The group classes are intimate and the instruction is designed to guide beginners through advanced practitioners during a 60 minute session.
SUP Yoga helps calm the mind, tone the body, and allows you to reconnect with nature in a unique way. The water challenges your body to be strong and relaxed at the same time. For each pose you will strengthen and tone muscle; you’ll simultaneously learn to relax other areas of the body so you that can move with the water. It’s a lesson in balance that is often much harder to grasp on land.
The setting is inspiring and something that will make you smile. The city is either your background or the view in front of you. The water is a shade of blue or turquoise. The sky changes colors depending on the time of day; there are hues of deep blue, light blue, pink, orange, and purple. The clouds flow overhead to create a scene that flows with each current of wind.
During your session you’ll have the chance to see families of ducks, the daily group flight of the seagulls, geese chasing hawks, jumping fish and dogs on paddleboards. If you’re really lucky, you’ll catch the man with the dancing parrot at the harbor bar. If this is your city; get ready to feel like you’re on vacation. If it’s not, you’re in for something unique that most tourists never get to experience.
